Tooth Replacement that Mimics Nature

Implant dentistry is the most advanced therapy available to replace missing teeth. Dental implant restorations such as an implant tooth generally look, feel and act like natural teeth. The closest thing to replacing a natural tooth, dental implants are strong, stable, durable, and look so real you’ll swear they are. Implants provide excellent chewing ability and protect your jaw.

As an experienced implant dentist, Dr. Pryor has helped hundreds of patients improve their lives with dental implants. He also shares his knowledge with other dentists as a Contributing Author for the professional journal: Implant Evolution.

Dental Implants are the best alternative to your own teeth and can provide a lifetime of excellent chewing and aesthetics. Patients who have been treated with implants are able to chew all the foods they desire and no longer have to suffer the embarrassment of having their teeth come loose in public.

Dental implants are the best alternative to natural teeth. A dental implant is a replacement for the lost root of a tooth. Unlike dental implants a denture only temporarily fits the gum. Once the root of the tooth is replaced with an implant, then a new crown can be made over the implant to provide a new life-like tooth. Dental implants can be used to replace single teeth, multiple teeth, and to secure loose dentures. Dental implants have been used successfully for more than 30 years. The development stage of dental implantology ended more than two decades ago, and research studies have clearly established the safety and effectiveness of dental implants.

Who is a Candidate for Implants or Fixed Dentures?

Dental implants have been in use for more than 30 years and can provide patients a lifetime of permanent teeth. When a tooth is lost, the root that supports that tooth is also lost. A dental implant replaces this root which foundationally effects the jaw and bone. A lost tooth allows the bone to atrophy or disappear. Unless the root of the tooth is replaced with an implant, this bone loss will continue, so it’s critical to take this step for your long-term health.

A lost tooth or teeth also affects chewing ability. An implant or fixed implant teeth can restore chewing efficiency to 100%. Since an implant stands on its own, each tooth can take the force of biting as it should. A traditional bridge adds the forces from the missing tooth to each anchored tooth on either side, which may lead to damage to those other teeth. When this same situation is treated with a dental implant, these problems can be completely avoided. When an implant is used to replace a missing tooth, the adjacent teeth can be left untouched. Also, because a new support is placed in the bone, the adjacent teeth do not have to do more work, and therefore, the longevity of those teeth is increased. Also, implants will never decay; therefore, there is no chance of losing the implant to tooth decay.

When a patient has several missing or damaged teeth, you could replace those individually with an implant, but by simply placing four implants, the bone can be re-stimulated and placement of those four or six implants can evenly distribute the bite force with a set of fixed custom dentures permanently attached to the jaw.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are the best choice to restore missing teeth. Your teeth affect everything from your smile, confidence, chewing, laughing, speech, and enjoying daily activities. Since dental implants are a permanent restoration, they’re the ideal solution to protect your oral health.

There are some circumstances where a dental implant isn’t necessary. During your complimentary consultation, we’ll review your case and will determine the best course of action for your individual needs. If a dental implant isn’t the best choice for you, we won’t push you to get one.
For most patients, a dental implant will last a lifetime. If you’re 45 or older, the implant itself won’t typically need a replacement for life, but the crown or cap (tooth) placed on top of the implant appliance may need restoration or a replacement every 10-15 years.

In many circumstances implant supported dentures aren’t necessary, however if you want to enjoy life like you did prior to losing your teeth, our implant-supported dentures are the best choice for replacing a full set of upper or lower teeth. When you visit us for your complimentary consultation we will provide you with an accurate, honest diagnosis.

Our dental team will work with you to see if your insurance provider will cover the implant procedure. If for any reason it’s not covered by insurance, we’ll let you know and will work with you to develop a financial plan. Our patients regularly tell us that the implant procedure to replace their missing tooth was totally worth their time and investment.
We’ll work with you and your insurance company to see if sedation will be covered by your insurance company. If coverage doesn’t extend to dental sedation, we offer easy monthly payments with financing. Most patients that have used sedation say it’s worth the investment.

Of course, there are. Pryor Family Dentistry won’t lecture or judge you for your dental problems. Every patient is unique, and we understand that sometimes circumstances can lead to dental problems a patient might find embarrassing. Rest assured, our practice is proud of your choice to pursue a healthy smile.

The consultation is completely free of charge. That being said, we are limited to how many consultations we can schedule during any given period, so please schedule today to take advantage of this offer.
We offer CareCredit® health care financing for your convenience which offers reasonable interest rates for those who need to finance their care.
